CREATIVE DIRECTION

In 2017 we started a collaboration with one of the most historical and high-end French ski brand, Lacroix. The partnership included ARRO studio and La Fabrique du Ski to take over the brand’s ski department, to write a new chapter for the 50 years old brand.

The partnership ranged from an Art director role to product design. After having encountered and exchanged with Leo Lacroix, Olympic ski champion and founder of the brand in 1967, we started by a revamp of Lacroix’s logo, defined a new base line, “Le ski depuis 1967”, designed the brand website as well as the whole ski collection across three seasons.

For the high end skis offered by Lacroix we defined a design language which challenged the capacity of CNC engraving on anodized Titanal sheet to create the premium range of Lacroix’s skis, by playing either in 2D or 3D by creating pattern from 3D softwares.

While for the mid range, we created bitmap graphic patterns inspired by the work of a chisel or a gouge on wood. To create various faux sculpted effects on a 2d printed polyamide topsheet.

 

Our collaboration was linked with La Fabrique du ski’s co-founder and engineer Christian Alary, who developed with us the engraving techniques to set up the various patterns that defined the collection of skis. And who was also responsible  of the R&D as well as the production of Lacroix’s premium skis, being made in France at La Fabrique du Ski.
